THE ART OF KEVIN STEVENS
My work is an exploration of color, texture, movement and space. I work primarily in mixed media, allowing each painting to develop through an evolving process of adding, removing, layering and responding to what happens on the canvas.
For me, the artwork is not simply about the finished image. It is about the process of discovery.
THE CREATIVE PROCESSS
My paintings develop through an intuitive process of adding, removing, layering and responding to what happens on the canvas. Acrylic paint, pastel, charcoal, spray paint, recycled materials and found elements become part of the process.
Shapes emerge, disappear and sometimes return in an entirely different form. The finished painting is the result of that continuing conversation between the materials, the composition and the artist.

ABOUT KEVIN
Kevin Stevens is an abstract painter, sculptor and photographer whose creative life has taken him through many different paths.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force as a Russian linguist, Kevin studied at Montserrat College of Visual Art in Beverly, Massachusetts. He went on to exhibit his work throughout New England and New York while working in painting, sculpture, photography and carpentry.
His current work focuses on mixed-media painting, combining acrylic paint, pastel, charcoal, spray paint and recycled materials to explore color, texture and spatial composition.
For Kevin, the finished painting is only part of the story. The real work happens in the process of discovery.
